Concurso San Miguel XII

EIGHT OF THE MOST TALENTED and promising young opera singers in Mexico were chosen as finalists for the 12th Concurso San Miguel. More than 600,000 MXN in career grants and many thousands more in performing opportunities and scholarships were awarded. The Grand Finale and Concert was held on February 29, 2020, at 7:30 PM, Teatro Angela Peralta, in San Miguel de Allende. These were the results of the very competitive grand finale.

Akemi Endo, soprano

First Prize Winner and one of five winners of The Bavaria Project Prize: Travel to Theater Regensburg, Gemany. Participate in master classes and in a group audition for 10 to 15 Bavarian theater directors with the opportunity to receive engagements. Participate in a grand gala with orchestra at Theater Regensburg. Accommodations and meals provide by Theater Regensburg. Round-trip air travel courtesy Barbara Hayes and the Oliver Deehan Memorial.

Amistad Canada 2nd Prize;
The Jeunes Ambassadeurs Lyriques. Transportation to Montreal, Québec, Canada in November to audition for more than 12 opera directors from 10 countries, for cash prize and performance opportunities.
The Conservatori Liceu Prize: Full tuition scholarship to attend Conservatori Liceu in Barcelona, Spain, in the Master of Opera diploma program in 2021, and to perform Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro. Transportation and housing allowance included.

The Opera in the 21st Century Prize: a full scholarship to attend the Banff Center for Arts and Creativity in the Canadian Rockies of Alberta, Canada. Includes tuition, meals, accommodations and travel expenses.
